About The Project
I began this project because I wanted to explore more about my relationship with feminism. I also wanted to see why, sometimes, feminists disagreed so much about the true meanings of feminism. I initially was wary, because my Gateway project also talked about leading a social activist group based on my experiences in Feminist Forum in the Residential College. However, people loved the idea for this project, so I decided to go for it.

This project focuses partly on my journey with feminism. As I worked on this project, I really became interested in how I became so passionate about feminism myself. I tried to recount how my passion for feminism grew in college to the best of my ability. I think it is really important as a feminist to recognize where you’ve been and where you’re going with your feminism. I think it’s also important to recognize when you’re wrong and where you have space to grow. This is something we constantly have to learn how to do.

I also focus some here on other people’s journeys with feminism through interviews. I expect this to be a work in progress, in which I will add more feminists as I am able to interview them. This allows people to see how different people can view feminism. In academia, there is a lot of talk about the “right” kind of feminism — intersectional and accepting. However, with feminism, it is also important to see how this manifests in people’s day-to-day lives.
