This guide is meant to help fill the gap in training for new forum facilitators. The training for becoming a forum facilitator at the present time is quite slim, and mostly involves verbal guidance from past facilitators and learning as you go. This guide provides a written resource with the essential skills and knowledge for facilitating a forum. It is not meant to be exhaustive, but instead is meant to give a new facilitator the building blocks to run a successful forum. A section of the guide also recounts notable experiences that I have had during my time as a facilitator to give an idea about what the day-to-day life of being a facilitator can be. The skills and knowledge in this guide can also apply to other new leaders of discussion-based groups or even those just looking to build their leadership skills.
